DHAKA , March 23 (Xinhua)-- With Bangladesh's southeastern Bandarban district offering stunning panoramic vistas of beautiful hills and luscious forests, it's no wonder that the area is one of the country's key tourist destinations attracting thousands of people, from backpackers to billionaires, each year.

An ideal place for trekking, hiking and jungle walks for the more adventurous, Bandarban attracts tourists from all corners of the globe.

Lofty hills , dense forests, sprawling grasslands and impressive lakes greet tourists on most of Bandarban's popular routes, which lie some 316 km southeast of capital Dhaka.

It is one of the three districts that make up Bangladesh's Chittagong Hill Tracts, the others being the Rangamati and Khagrachhari districts, which nature has embellished with its majestically green ornaments.

The district, which can be found eight hours away from Dhaka by bus , paves the way for tourists to see the rich flora and fauna, picturesque bamboo cottages of tribal families and their unique lifestyle.

Tourists can see and buy products made by the tribal people who live scattered over the hills in Bandarban. There are about 14 different tribes like Mogh, Murong Chakma, Khumi, Tipra, Bawm , Tanchongya and Khyang.

Meem Ahmed, a homemaker, along with her husband and kids visited Bandarban recently from Dhaka.

"I've come here to enjoy the natural beauty of Bandarban. I feel amazing. I'm a house wife. I have come here with my husband and kids and we have already visited a number of naturally beautiful sites. I feel great."

For college student Nafisa Hossain Bandarban, the Bandarban visit has created huge excitement.

"It's a huge experiment for me. The environment is very nice here and it's nice I can stay here for so long. I will tell everyone to visit this area. At least I can say that anyone choosing to visit here will not regret the time they spend."

Some of the visitors who talked to Xinhua, however, mentioned the necessity of protecting the environment and ecosystems of the naturally enriched Bandarban tourist sites.

Minhas , going by his first name, said he is a software engineer. This place (Bandarban) lacks enough precautionary measures which are needed to maintain such a naturally beautiful place as a popular tourist spot.

"Once upon a time in these regions, people could see leopards and tigers, but today they don't exist here because we have already damaged the environment."

Echoing a similar view, lecturer Bandana Nandi said it is not only Bangladesh's treasure but rather a global treasure.

"We must protect Bandarban's natural beauty forever,"he said.

RIO DE JANEIRO , March 20 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's President Dilma Rousseff said Friday if the National Congress approves her government's spending cuts and tax increases, the country will " soon" overcome its economic crisis.

"Together, by approving the belt-tightening measures, we will get out of this soon," Rousseff told an official event in southern Rio Grande do Sul state, taking place in conjunction with Brazil's Landless Workers Movement (MST).

"Belt-tightening is part of life. Everyone does it. We're not belt-tightening because we like it , we are doing it so the country can continue to grow, generating employment and carrying out social policies," she said.

The president is trying to push through the unpopular measures at a time when public patience with officials is at all-time low, thanks largely to an embarrassing and ongoing corruption scandal at state oil giant Petrobras.

Over the weekend, disgruntled Brazilians took to the streets in one of the largest anti-government demonstrations ever in Latin America's largest economy.

Rousseff, who began her second term as president in January , last year tried to revive the slowing economy through numerous incentive packages, but they failed to spur economic activity.

Underscoring the importance of adopting the fiscal measures, she said the government "has no way to continue absorbing" the costs of the previous incentives and had to try a different approach.

MOSCOW, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- Russia has warned that its relation with Britain could further deteriorate after a British government's inquiry said that President Vladimir Putin might play a role in the death of a former Russian spy in London.

According to the report of a British public inquiry released Thursday, former Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko was "deliberately poisoned" and his murder was "probably approved" by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In response to the British report, Russian foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova refuted the allegations , saying that Britain's handling of the case was "opaque" and "politicized.

An outspoken critic of Putin, Litvinenko died at a London hotel in 2006 at the age of 43, after drinking green tea reportedly laced with the deadly radioactive polonium.

He fled to Britain in 2000 and became a British citizen in 2006.

The British report said Litvinenko's former colleagues Dmitry Kovtun and Andrey Lugovoy deliberately poisoned Litvinenko with polonium-210.

It is said the agent died three weeks after meeting with Kovtun and Lugovoy in London, and British authorities then suspected the two of poisoning Litvinenko with the radioactive isotope.

A public inquiry into Litvinenko's death was formally established by the British government in July 2014.

Lugovoy on Friday said in a TV show that he would not leave Russia or go to court to clear his name.

"I don't intend to do that, because if I go into that, it means I will attach importance to what the British are doing ," he said.

Lugovoy have said that he had passed a polygraph test conducted by British experts, which proves that he was not guilty of murdering the former FSB agent.

Kovtun, currently a businessman, said that .
